Default Where do you think you'll be in 5 years?

So, where do you think you'll be in 5 years? I'm not talking a physical location but feel free to respond if it's relevant for you. Career advancement? Retirement? Marriage? Kids?

If you would have answered this question 5, 10, 20, etc years ago, how correct (or incorrect) would you have been?

I hope to be in the same position that I am now- happily retired.

For me, completely retired and dreaming of what my next gig will be, or who will come and see me play live.

On vacation in Ireland.

Or I guess its: On holiday in Ireland.

Fairly correct at each time frame. But at 23 years, I would have been wildly (in fact, unbelievably) incorrect, much to my joy.

Considering how COMPLETELY wrong my guesses would have been 5, 10, 20, years ago, I don't think there's any point in guessing where I'll be in the future.

I'm retiring from teaching next year so I'll be chillaxin. I will also be doing minor renovations to a mobile home that I want to rent out as well as maintain another house that I am renting out for extra income. With a modest school pension I should do alright.

So I'll be at home playing more guitar, listening to music and working on some old cars (if I have enough money to do it). I may get into making guitars as well as it has been one of my dreams.

I'm 40 and might as well say that I'm semi retired after a near fatal accident in 2015 left me unable to work stand for long sit for long etc. So looking 5 years out is hard when I struggle just to get through each day.

Doing the same thing I am now - I'll only be 61 and hopefully still very fit and active. I doubt I'll ever fully retire - most of my friends will tell you I've been semi retired since I was about 40. I've learned how to live so simply that I don't need to work full time

As to the second part - I told my Mom about 20 years ago that I was probably going to be the worlds only single 70 year old personal trainer. That may prove to be quite correct

I will be fully retired and shed the part time work I do now. My plan is to live on revolving vacations around the country enjoying the people and nature. All barring catastrophic events of coarse. As far as how I would have guessed it in the past? It's all been pretty steady so I would have guessed pretty much where I would have been.

An old saying is "If you want to hear God laugh, tell him your plans."
