Yep, I'd agree with that. Of all the guitars I've played, my GC3 is just about the most comfortable and easy I've ever laid hands on.

playabilty I would have to say Taylor they are consistantly good, just don't float my boat in the sound department, hence the reason I've never owed one.

At the risk of bearing out the OP's follow up by asking another question.

Why would you want to know that? It's like asking who can play better, people with long fingers or short fingers. It's all personal, and that should be obvious.

Answer? there is no answer.......

Just my 2 cents.

I don't understand why people insist on giving generalized it depends answers.
Probably because there is truth in the generalized answers, but people don't take time to give a full dissertation on setup and playability as it pertains to a multitude of preferences. I think if you could sit down in person with someone, you'd probably get full, helpful answers. On a forum it's a bit different.

The other reason is that if you come out and say one brand is more playable than others, you'll get a rather...let's say "spirited discussion" rolling more often than not.

That out of the way, I think you're hard pressed to find a more playable out of the box guitar than a Taylor. For most applications. I can delve into the reasons if you're curious.

When I say playability, I am referring literally to how easy it is to play the guitar.
Hey TGA8, I don't own one, but the simple answer is Taylor. Then to be more specific, pick up a Big Baby, and you have the most playable neck known to man. Sound, tone, bla, bla bla is another subject. Hope this quick answer helps.

Says it all.
There is no one formula for a comfortable, "playable" guitar that everybody will love. If there were, every guitar builder out there would be building guitars with those specs.

Get a well made guitar, straight neck, good neck angle, good fret job.
Profile you find comfortable.
Neck width you find comfortable.
Bridge and saddle spacing you get comfortable.
Fretboard radius you find comfortable.
Get it set up how you like it by a good tech.
There you go. Playable. Comfortable.

For me, I've found some Martins, some Collings, some Gibsons, some Taylors, some SCGC, some custom built models to be very comfortable/playable.

Well, that's life I guess.
You may not like to hear it, but unfortunately, it DOES "depend".

I did not see your clarification. My answer to this one is: Hey TGA8, I don't own one, but the simple answer is Taylor. Then to be more specific, pick up a Big Baby, and you have the most playable neck known to man. Sound, tone, bla, bla bla is another subject. Hope this quick answer helps.

The most perfectly playable guitar that I have ever experienced straight out of the box was a 2006 Martin D-41. That is, of course, based upon my personal preferences and requirements that match my playing style. I must also say that not every Martin that I have played "straight out of the box" met my criteria ... in fact, not every Martin D-41 (but I have only played three D-41's straight out of the box).

True. Almost every guitar company makes a guitar that plays like butter. Some by accident and others regularly. You have to find the one that you prefer. Any single guitar answer would be purely personal preference.

Geesh, you post such a question in a public forum with several thousand members and expect no variations of answer? I'll be frank and say it's not a brilliant question to begin with and in my experience it is more the shop the guitar sits in and the care taken to present it.

I have my favorite 1 or 2, but I think most importantly is 1) get the right neck for you 2) get a professional setup. Then many guitars will play like magic.
