Default NIAGD (New INTERESTING Acoustic Guitar Day)...

This followed me home from the music store last night. It's a Yamaha SLG110N nylon "silent acoustic". It doesn't quite have the snap and response of my Cordoba FCWE Reissue flamenco, but it sounds awesome. More like a standard classical. Very impressed. Sounds great through head phones. And on-board FX are great, though I run the guitar dry and use just a hint of reverb on my Fishman Loudbox Mini.

My wife was giving me the look (of a wife who's seen 5 Les Pauls, 2 Strats, a couple of tube amps, and a bunch of FX pedals come through the door over the summer) when I walked in the door with the case. But as soon as I pulled it out, she was like "ahhhh... that's SO cool". I'm diggin it and already the wheels are turning, thinking about returning to my solo acoustic gigging schtick... though I'll probably go a little less latin-flavored and a little more smooth-jazz this time.

P.S. It's tone can be described as "light and airy".

Nice! I have a SLG130N myself and love it. I'm not sure what the difference is but it is supposed to be an updated model with a better DSP. It has made recording acoustic parts for my music a breeze, and it sounds great. I've been hankering for the steel string also but can't really afford it at the moment.

My dealer asked me if I wanted them to order the 130, but I preferred the look of the black frame. Wasn't aware that the FX were upgraded on it though. I haven't been using mine at all anyways... I only use a smidge of reverb on the Loudbox. It's very natural and transparent to my ears.

Congrats
Owned a few silent guitars over the years
Both the aria and a yamaha
Great when the kids were young for those late night practice sessions

Here is an easy modification if one plays flamenco
Always found the lack of body limits some percussive techniques such as golpes etc
Easily modified with a piece of Perspex or plastic

I have one and really like it. Usually keep it in my office for practice. But for playing and recording through an amp, I use the Godin ACS solid body, which to me has a smoother, more balanced sound. Probably wouldn't part with either.

I think the Tone Right went a bit too far on that one.

I read this with interest a few days ago, and did some looking on the web for one, checking prices, etc. Imagine my surprise today when I saw a NW130 in a local shop--on sale for $60 lower than the lowest I've seen! And they threw in some headphones (my guess is they'd been despairing of ever selling it). So I picked it up, and it will be at the office for lunchtime and for early practice in hotel rooms...

Sounds great through headphones with a little reverb!
