Really cool idea.

But in looking at it why do you need so many holes?

I will have to dig out some of my old text books, but I think the same purpose could be done with fewer holes. It might allow the container to last longer between refills. Of course the proper humidity measurement could answer the question. If it is working for you don't change a thing. Just trying to think of a way to make it more efficient.

once again very cool idea and prototyping.

Great Thread!!

I just made one myself, but i have a question, where do you put the soap size one in the case? i have a taylor guitar and i'm thinking on putting it right in the space left between the dove tail and the case.

Is that the way to go? or do you put them somewhere else in the case? where's more effective for this humidifier??

Thanks!

i've been using the cellulose sponge in a zip lock sandwich baggie (perforated) for years, in multiple guitars. still works for me. the benefit of them is you can play the guitar with them in, during the dry, winter months.

Super tutorial! I'm making 5 of these by myself, but I have some problems.

I've bought 5 50ml jars from Ebay (impossible to find here)

And some clear water beads too, and the biggest problem are the antibacterial sponges... In fact here in Italy the brand "ocelo" doesn't exist, and it seems that no one makes Antibacterial soft sponges, maybe the only one that I can find is the classic dish sponge, the one yellow/green, and I should remove the green abrasive part off course.. do you think it'll be fine?

Thank you for resurrecting this thread, Gasworker. I may just have to make some of these.

How does your guitar cope with the soap dish, jipiboi? I'd be concerned that it could rub on the back of the neck and damage the finish. Come to think of it, I could not fit one there as the heel of my guitar wouldn't go past it.

I've been using the Trader Joe's vegetable celluloce Pop-Up Sponges with great results. Don't know if you have a Trader Joe's where you live. I like them a lot.

Is a sponge that "resists bacterial odors," as the O-Cel-o sponges claim, really necessary?
