Our theater recently got the recliners. And Tuesday is $5 day for any movie at any time. Guess when I see all the new releases? The Tuesday following the weekend it was released. The recliners are a nice addition. The reserved seating is cool but I'd have some late shows and people sit in the wrong seat and it throws everyone else off in the row.

Yep, Larry. Now that I get the senior discount, I get to more first-run films. Our theatre has gone to the recliners, and they are comfy.

But I'm still mostly a streamer or red boxer. Even though the theatre experience has improved, the time it takes to get to and from makes movie nights still a rarity at my place.

I've been in a theatre and it was $15 a ticket, leather recliner, cold beer & food served.
Worth every cent!

Our local "cool" theater is called the Tropic Cinema, and while they do indie and art house stuff mainly, they also get more mainstream stuff sometimes. I personally was totally sold when I discovered it was 1) six blocks from my new house and 2) they serve craft beer on tap.

Our nearby 'plexes have all gone to that kind of seating. The places that didn't have closed.
Prices went up, though. Before noon shows are still reasonable - $ 7.50 for 2D, matinee price is $11.50 and evening $13. Add $4 for 3D movies.

I do like being able to choose seats ahead of time as it means no longer having to show up 20 minutes (or more) early for a good seat to a new popular movie.
What's really annoying is finding people in your reserved seat! DUH people!

Our local theater did the same thing. We book our seats on line so we can decide not to go if there aren't seats available to our liking. The send the tickets to my iPhone so there's not waiting in lines. Even the food isn't quite as horrible as it used to be.
