In case you haven't noticed "jerk" and "idiot" are true equal-opportunity labels - no restrictions on race, age, nationality, religion, disability, gender, or the like...

Including the very wealthy with their huge carbon footprints who are telling us all how bad we are about polluting our planet. Gag me.

I'm not sure being wealthy automatically means you're a hypocrite.

it seems a pretty general characterization that leaves out the possibility that not so wealthy people might also have a huge carbon footprint.

I've been surprised by the humble way many wealthy live. I'm a board member of 501(c)3 that does kids programs so I've met and worked with many large donors. Maybe this is skewed by the sort of people who will give to kids programs but over and over I've seen people who donate large amounts of money live far below their means.

At times it's jaw dropping as to how generous and humble these people are. Again it might be skewed and not fully representative of the wealthy. Most of these donors are self-made, and very often successful in science or medicine. That said, I'm guessing there are far more wealthy like that than entertainment and sports stars.

The truly wealthy are often the best representatives of humanity in my experience. We've known and befriended a few, over the years and I have yet to meet one that is not more than willing to "get their hands dirty" and help society in whatever way is necessary. I've also known a few who "think" that they are wealthy, yes they might have a lot of money, but compared to those that have way more money, they are like the crumbs on the floor, and, sadly, they act like it, too.
