RIP Nicky Haden
An American motorcycle road racing World Champion lost his last battle . Struck by an automobile while riding a bicycle near Rimini . He was training .
I had not met either of the Hayden boys , but I can remember when they hit the scene . After a lifetime of riding in very close quarters on 2 wheels at up to 200 MPH , his life was lost as the result of being on a vehicle that was a comparative crawler . RIP Nicky . |

So sad to hear of the passing of Nicky Hayden following his accident whilst out cycling in Italy last week.
Nicky, aka ‘The Kentucky Kid’ was one of motorcycling’s good guys who seemed to get on with everyone without letting the competition get in the way. Unfortunately, that sense of sadness gets tainted with anger and confusion with such accidents. It is so hard to understand why people like Nicky Hayden and Michael Schumacher previously can spend their lives racing around at 200mph plus, only to be struck down by a ‘normal’ activity so many of us enjoy. Live life to the full but always take care in everything you do. RIP Nicky. |

I had heard of his injury on Sunday when I watched the Moto GP from LeMans, France.
It is tough to hear about things like this.

Yeah, a very sad and tragic event, killed on a bicycle, of all things.
Rest In Peace, Nicky.
