There are evidently several species of wood known as padouk. This plank was sold to me as padouk but it does not have the cotton candy smell that the padouk I am used to normally has.

I am continually knocked out by the sound of our Brown BOMB Round Peak! I get compliments at every gig on the sound and beauty of your work!!!
I hope you have plans to build more elevated FB guitars with the CF struts, besides the next one for me. What a VOICE this BOMB has!

Best wishes for a lovely trip to Woodstock. May you sell them all! I will be very surprised if any come home with you.

Have fun

Paul
Thank you Paul. I appreciate your continued support

Thanks Steve. Padouk is a great wood, in plentyful supply and so far under appreciated.

Stunning guitar, John - I love it! I've always been partial to red guitars, but most of them have been products of the spray booth. Yours is the real deal!

Curious about the padouk neck: is the dark central part padouk, another wood, or a veneer? I'm talking about the underside, not the upperside.

Thanks SJ. That center section is also padouk but taken from a section of the board that was straw colored. I thought it might look coool in a variegated sort of way but under finish I did not like the combination at all, so the black is sprayed on. (Sorry to disappoint). I thought it looked a lot better that way. Then that dark center section seemed to call out for a little something, hence the inlay on the back of he neck.

Not disappointed at all - I think it looks great. I'm relieved it wasn't a five pound chunk of ebony running up the center!
