Doing multiple takes and mixing down is a normal part of mixing/mastering songs. This is definitely not a sound I would be trying for. However, I guess there are some people who would like it.

There's an Emi and Ami also (found in the part underlying the acoustic guitar break which has a different chord structure to the rest of the song - one of the reasons the acoustic break sounds very engaging I think, because it's not just a repeat of verse chorus or middle 8).

Either way it's a great song, and one of my favourites. One video shows the lead guitarist, Jim Cregan, playing a D-18. And thank goodness it isn't yet another three-chord, big hat country song, droning on about dogs, divorces and trucks!

I think the solo sounds better on this version:

This might well be the recorded version they are miming to.

No compulsion to like! But I wouldn't agree that break would sound anywhere near as good if it was played on an electric guitar. I think it only comes to life as acoustic guitar. BTW, it was originally conceived as a sax break - another acoustic instrument.

I think this rather proves my point about an electric guitar version:

Then there are other videos that make me marvel at how wide and different our musical tastes can be - and that's a good thing, too. It makes the world more interesting. Thanks for posting.

This song, unfortunately, is one of the later. My preference (aside from a different singer and song) would be a solo that sounds like it can only properly live on an acoustic instrument.

Ha, well the band does at least.
The funny thing about this thread for me is that I didn't think that solo was well known enough to bother copying .. I'd "do it my way", that really meant "it's easier if I do it my way", but I disappointed a couple of others who insisted there would be many people who knew it really well, if not me. So I gave in, and I quite enjoy the solo their way.

[QUOTE=Owen David;5604484]No compulsion to like!

It is quite obviously a playback video and singer is on drugs [emoji3]

What really fascinates me is what different people think is good.

I've never heard the song, never heard of the singer, nor of the band.

And now that I've heard it, I must say, I don't care to ever hear it again. As a talent agent I wouldn't have found anything there of interest.

It is fascinating what different people think is good. . Musical tastes run an incredibly wide and long gamut.

I think that your example just proves that a poorly mixed mediocre performance on an electric can be terrible.

I only made it to 0:17. The look, the sound, just everything was pretty brutal. The singer looks to be on a pretty successful diet though. Still I love all the different tastes in music on here!
