Start easy, it's not tough. Outline with a knife, chisel out the middle, repeat.

Cut the insert first, and use it, your template won't match the insert

Here's another of the truss rod cover I just made today for this guitar. All that's left is a pickguard, the old pickguard location is very faded into the top and I don't know what to do to replace it. Ideas?
