Default Doerr Trinity Select Signature Swiss Spruce/BRW

With all the perfectly understandable event cancellations, I think we can all use some distractions. So I'm here for you! LOL. I shared a few photos in the BIG'er thread about guitars that were being brought as I intended to bring this with me, but am sharing here in the event some of you weren't drooling over the many gorgeous guitars in that thread.

So, I pulled the trigger on a Tom Doerr Trinity Select model last week. Tom is setting it up for me and will ship Monday. Should be to me by Wed if not slowed down in transit. I'm giddy as can be. If you hear a thunderously loud, "Hot Dang!" on Wednesday, you'll know it arrived. ;-)

This was one of three on hand that he had built for a prior show back in 2018. This has 1 13/16 nut width with 2 5/16 string spacing. As I tend to prefer a 1 7/8 neck with 2 3/8 string spacing, I thought about commissioning one but kept coming back to stare at this spectacular set of BRW. And Tom assured me if during my 3-day trial I decide I would rather have a wider neck, I can return it. While he has plenty of spectacular wood on hand, he doesn't have anything like this set.

He has two other models (larger bodied) that I believe are still available. And there is also a great buy on a Wenge Trinity Select on Reverb, being sold for unfortunate reasons (owner is fighting the big C). I really looked at the used one but it has standard string spacing which likely won't work for me and I prefer more highly figured woods than Wenge.

I've attached a few photos, but a full set of high res photos can be seen here:

Assuming I like this as much as I expect I will, I'll need to find new homes for some of the others. In case anyone is interested, I'm likely to sell the Martin 0-28VS Custom (Carpathian spurce/Amazon rosewood), Collings 01 German/Walnut and Larrivee Parlor Custom (Moon spruce/Zebrano).

Stunning work of art. I hope you bond with it. I wouldn't be able to send it back even if it sounded like a banjo.

That looks like a dream to play, not to mention just stare at from across the room!

Whoa! Now that is special! Congrats Eddie. Just slightly bigger than your tenor. Haha!

Your going to love it! I have a maple/Swiss and it is wonderful.

I played it for some friends who would continually turn and look at me saying things like “I can’t believe THAT much sound is coming from that little guitar!”

Yep - it sure was! I can only imagine how it will ring with Braz.

Oh, that was finger style, and I’m not a great finger stylist. With a flat pick - get out of the way.

And you may never leave your couch again either.

Congrats on a heck of a good score!

Hope you enjoy that beautiful Trinity. I also have a Trinity in Brazilian with a Cedar top and rosewood neck. It is a fingerstyle dream guitar!

Thanks, everyone. As I assumed would happen, the delivery is slowed and it did not arrived today. It's was still in the midwest as of last night, slowing making its way here. Fingers crossed it makes it by Friday.

That's funny, Cincy, especially since my 7th grade daughter who plays violin brought home a banjo from her school to use during the COVID-19 break. She is loving it and might be pretty darn good at it given how long the break looks likely to last...

It was delivered to my office today, while I was out. I am so excited to get it tomorrow...if I can! Tonight the governor put our state (California) under a Stay at Home executive order. Not really supposed to go anywhere that is not an absolute necessity. I do think it's the right call because sadly we are following the same track that Italy did. So better to take extreme measures to slow it down.

Fortunately, I do have to go to the office to get some things so that I can operate from home the next few weeks and to ship out a proposal that must go out tomorrow. I am hoping that the office building doesn't lock people out!

Which one of you opened the "May You Live in Interesting Times" fortune cookie a few weeks ago? Put it back!! ;-)
