Congrats I almost got the same model. Play it in good spirit.

Excellent logic, and a fine choice.

I played the 14 fret and the 12 fret side by side and although there was a very slight tonal differance I went with the 14 because I often capo, and sometimes as high as the 7th fret.

In any case these 322s are a unique blend of non-typical Taylor tone and affordability.

Wow - that's gorgeous. I imagine it sounds even better. I'm a Taylor fan and owner but have not had the opportunity to play this model. I think I owe it to myself to do that - I've been intrigued for a while.
Congrats and enjoy.........keep the pins - they look great.

Congrats! Fantastic guitar!

I have been really enjoying my 322e 12 fret for over a year now. I too have the dyed Bob Colosi bone pins ....and I changed to Waverly tuning machines.

I played one of these at Chicago Music Exchange when I was shopping for my first "real" acoustic. I really, really liked it (especially with a cutaway), but I hadn't (and haven't) been playing all that long, so I thought that a 12 fret all hog guitar was a bit specific for a first "good" guitar to learn on. But I really, really loved it.

Congrats. I'm sure its awesome.

Very nice! I love my 322ce 12-Fret.

I am curious about your tuners...those are quite different than the standard tuners on the 322, aside from the ebony buttons. Did you spec a different tuner? Here's a photo of mine, for reference.

Default NGD - Taylor 12 Fret

Great choice! The Mahogany/ Blackwood combo on a 12 fret sounds like it’d be winner to me. Looks good too

No I did not spec different tuners. But I just took another look at mine and I kind of like the vintage look of yours.
Regarding the ebony buttons - when I was asked if I wanted them, I couldn’t remember what the 322 usually came with and figured they would be chrome, until I just saw your pic.

Beautiful guitar and congrats!

Guitargeak--I live in Sacramento and you mentioned luthier "Arnie Gamble"--can you provide his contact information? I don't have a trusted luthier and would love a good person---PM or in the thread would be great.

cheers

He’s out of Kline Music on Sutterville Rd, just west of Hwy 99.
He works out of his home, and only shows up 2 days a week in the afternoon to take guitars home or bring them back.

Call him at 916-448-8339, he has voice mail.
A really nice man who is approved by Martin Guitars for warranty repair work.
He explained to me how there is a sweet spot in the set up between the nut slots, saddle height, & neck relief.

Whenever I take a guitar to him I always make sure he will be there, so I can talk to him personally. You can tell him how you play and what you like for the set up.
But when I pick it up, I just pay for it at the front counter.
Google his name and check his website out.

The main number for the store is 916-465-8742

Good luck

Congrats on this!

I totally love my cutaway version. It really does sound different than the all mahogany (which I also love). I almost feel that it's closer to my spruce topped taylor than my 522. It's a pretty unique sound, and a crazy-good guitar.

I'm super curious about the tuners. I wonder if Taylor is actually going to make the ebony buttons and 3 on a plate slothead tuners standard. It seems like a strange thing to randomly suggest, unless they had them all ready to go.

Cool, Ggeak. You sound totally content -- like you made sure you got the guitar you wanted.

These are what came on mine too. I had my luthier, Jake Robinsin, swap them out for Waverly’s....great upgrade!

The blackwood gives it a nice crisp growl the spruce tops never had, but it wasn't until I put some Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze strings on it for it to stay in my harem.

I’ll make note of the Ernie Ball strings.

Just to add that the Aluminum Bronze strings added a lot of crispness I find lacking in mahogany tops, spoiled on spruce tops for so many years . . .

Might have sold it otherwise, but the Al-Bz made it a keeper.
