My sole Airedale at this time taught my other 2 to howl at the fire siren . She will also go off when I howl at/with her . Doesn't take much to set her off and she's got a great voice .

Kind of a sad post for me. My dog "Rocky" who starting on July 4th suffered from seizures, I had to put him down last week, ( cried like a baby") anyways, when I got my guitars out he'd just sit real close in front of me and stare up at me, I think he seemed to enjoy the 12 string most.

So sorry about your Rocky. I hope you can take some joy in your memories. Thank you for sharing.

My previous dog, a lovely golden/lab mix, would howl as the fire trucks went by with their sirens. None of my dogs have made a big deal out of my guitar playing. They left that to the cats.

Does your new dog react in any way when you simply bring out the guitar? Does it seem nervous of the instrument? Does it howl if it can only hear you, but not see you?

Mine will seek me out when I play and lay on my foot if it’s available. When I play, it’s naptime. He loves it and it puts him to sleep. My last dog wouldn’t mind guitar but would sing along when I sang and howled along when I played the harmonica. Nothing bothers my current buddy.

My dog Jack ignores all stringed instruments but can’t stand the harmonica. Barks wildly and seems to be quite annoyed.

I notice the higher notes seem to set him off more than the low ones.

Our Aussie pup would sit and rotate his head from side to side when the wolves would howl behind the house, but he never joined in.
He seems crushingly indifferent to my playing and singing
