5-days in...

I've played this A LOT since it arrived last Wednesday, and it's a really great guitar. Full size dreads have caused me some shoulder pains in the past, but after many hours of playing this, I haven't experienced that yet; so, possibly my shoulder issues weren't chronic? Whatever the reason, good news for me! When strummed, its tone is just what you'd expect...with a nice rumble to it that favors the low-end, but not overly so. However, when played fingerstyle, even though the bass is still very present, it has good balance with lovely fat trebles.

It's beautifully crafted, and I can't find a flaw on it--or anything pointing to less than stellar craftsmanship. I just love the top...the aging toner is not overdone, and the cross silking is gorgeous. This was a good purchase, and I'm a happy camper... Again, I'd be remiss if I didn't gives kudos to Maury and his team at Maury's Music for their great customer service...an A+ experience all the way around!

Here are a few more better quality pics for your viewing enjoyment...

Nice pics. Glad to hear you are happy with it. I had one which turned out to be a beast. Couldn’t become friends. Congrats!

Congrats on a sweet looking guitar. With all the playing in the last couple of days can you say that the guitar sounds less new - or not as stiff ? (Since you got it from Maury’s it is most likely factory fresh)

Can you hear a difference?

My wife bought my HD-28 for me in 1993.
She was an O.R./Trauma nurse and put money down every 2 weeks from her pay check. Took her over a year.... It is the most wonderful guitar in the world for that reason alone.
It is also a wonderful sounding/playing Martin and the only one in my otherwise Santa Cruz Ramuda.
Congratulations on yours. Try it in DADGAD....

You know, I like it too. Gives it a little character and its own unique fingerprint.

Well, that's an interesting question... I received the guitar when it was only 14-days old, and it sounded great from the get-go; but, I'd say it does sound a bit fuller today. And though some of that may be attributable to it settling in a bit from playing, I think it more likely has to do with it becoming fully acclimated to the environment of its new home. And too, as I play it more, I get more familiar with it; so, cleaner playing always makes for a better sounding guitar.

New guitars are so inspiring... Just a little fingerstyle diddy that will be the intro and verse accompaniment for a song I'm writing once the lyrics are done. Nothing fancy, high-tech, or life-altering here...just a simple iPhone recording; but, the guitar sounded really nice to my ear, so I thought I'd share it. As always, best listened to through headphones or earbuds.

Congrats on the beautiful Martin dread. I recently purchased a D-18, and have become a strong believer...

Congrats on your new Martin. I have not played yet the new ones, but I like the HD more than the simple D. More responsive to fingers.
