Default Ventura V32????

I'm new to this guitar thing, but I saw one of these and I liked the way it looked- sort of cool/retro.
Here's what it looks like :https://brucemusicstore.com/guitars/...ectric-guitar/

I like the red one, FWIW.

I'm pretty sure it's made in the Sunsmile factory :http://www.ssmii.com/ArticleShow.asp?ArticleID=2167

It's a Ventura V32. Ventura is a company that markets itself to small B&M stores, and they won't let their stuff be sold on line, or at big box stores. I guess they are looking for a niche, and giving small stores something to compete with.

Do the specs mean anything to you guys? I can get this for around $200, so I'm not spending a fortune, and I thought it might be neat to play with. Have any of you seen one of these or played one? Is it worth a try?

Don't know anything about Ventura I'm afraid. Epiphone and Eastman are also worth checking out if you're looking for a 335-style guitar.

It's interesting that the back and sides are listed as basswood, when most 335 style guitars are laminated maple. The price seems reasonable, although resale might be tough since they aren't a common brand.

I would be concerned that the pickups may not sound as good as what Epiphone puts in their Pro series (335 and 339).

FYI he Ventura name has been kicking around since the mid/late-60's, first on a line of Japanese "lawsuit" models (some of which can be quite good), later Korean and presently Chinese/Indonesian instruments; FWIW the parent company appears to make guitars for a few independent labels, so you may be able to find one under a different name to try out. TMK the Xaviere line marketed by the Guitar Fetish mail-order operation is one of these; they seem to get good reviews, and since they equip many of theirs with proprietary pickups one of these might be a good way to go - you'll pay a little more, but I understand they're worth it...

Well, I bought it, and so far it seems pretty nice. (Tobacco sunburst) Who knows? Now I need to find a hard case for it.

16.1" at lower bout, 18.9" lower body, 40.1" oal, 1.7" depth. That should fit in a 335 case, correct?

Don't necessarily need a hard case - one of these should do quite nicely for a guitar of that type:

Use it well and often...
