Gee whiz, this is tough...
This week it's a tie between Luis Bonfa's "solo in rio" and Ralph Towner/Paolo Fresu's "Chiaroscuro." This week. |

I am still listening to the album that began to drive me towards acoustic guitar, and I never grow tired of singing or playing along with Souvenirs, by Dan Fogelberg. The album came out in '74, but I wasn't aware of it until around '82, when a new friend of mine became determined to broaden my-then-admittedly somewhat limited musical horizons, and mentioned how much he loved it.
There is a possibility that I would have not bothered to learn to play an acoustic guitar without hearing this album. It's because of these songs, and the many thousands of hours of playing an acoustic that resulted from the onset of such, that I own Mr. Fogelberg a debt of gratitude that never can be repaid. To paraphrase a famous line. ... JT

The Paul Simon album, just Paul and his guitar.
Next would be America's first album, then "Abandoned Luncheonette" Hall and Oates |

Tone Poems
This is about as acoustic as you're likely to find. |

I think it is interesting/instructive that as wildly popular as Tommy Emmanuel is on this forum, nobody has picked one of his CDs.
