[NGD] Maybach Lester 59
Hey guys,
I usually don't post anything on electric guitars here, but I know that many of fellas here are really open-minded and won't necessarily look down on unusual brands! So, I just made myself a nice gift : a Les Paul from an obscure new brand from Czech Republic called Maybach. They make high quality replicas of popular models, Strats, Teles, and LPs This one is an hand-made recreation of an LP 59. Fine choice of woods, high assembling quality, nitro finish with a really loveable relic finish, and very good boutique pickups from a German brand called Amber. What about the tone, then? Plenty of sustain, and chiming pickups that allow you to produce artificial harmonics very easily, just call me the next Billy Gibbons! There are very few informations related to this new brand, but some nice guy on a French forum made a very interesting review and the guitar looked really appealing to me! Here are a few pics, so that you can get an idea : [/img]

Gorgeous, especially if it sounds like it looks, but IMO it'll never make it to the USA - Henry J. would mobilize two battalions of house lawyers in an instant, to protect the profits he's making on the POS '15 models...

That's really nice. Isn't that a high-end luxury car brand?

Kinda like Duesenberg - also a high-end guitar brand these days - and it's basically an uber-Mercedes that starts at around $400K ; heard rumors that CFM IV might own one - not sure, but wouldn't be too surprised either...

Wow, that's a beauty!!! Even has the aged look to it. I take it that the Amber pickups reflect a '59 PAF.
What amp are you playing? |

The guitar itself sounds really nice, I played her yesterday night on rehearsal with my band. She's quite lightweight for an LP, which is a real blessing for my poor back! At home, I plug her into my Fender Super Champ XD, and it sounds really great, with full of details. At the studio, I plugged her into a Hugues&Kettner head that is a bit harsh so it was ok but lacked warmth. Next week I will bring my own amps, a DV Mark Galileo head, which sounds really warm and Fenderish, I'm sure it's gonna be even better!
