Much is available in the "Record" and "Play" links/resource on the main page and more time should be spent in those categories than perusing the classifieds.

(already said but just in a little different way )

I've gotten the most value out of learning about some of the options available to us guitar players that are less main stream. I might not have my Taylor Baritone 8 or Huss and Dalton 00-SP without this forum. It's a great place to read about the guitars we don't see in our local stores -- low-end, high-end, and everywhere in between.

Toby,

not sure there is a "most valuable piece of information", however finding this site, and joining AGF ranks near the top. I lived in the world of GC and SA, which had limited to no exposure to different strings and picks and small shop guitar makers. So, the valuable information has been Strings, Picks, Guitar makers, Bone Saddle & pins (sourcing), DIY setups, & new music. Also, and most important is Show & Tell here at AGF, the exposure to new music and acoustic covers. AGF can be in inspiration if you are open to the experience.
