Juston, I am looking forward to following this build. I've never played a Buendia, but given your experience with various guitars and builders, I am certain that your enthusiasm is spot on. How are you going to manage to lug all these beauties to T.I.N.Y.?

Looks to be a special build. Congrats!

Man, has that OM-42 even acclimated yet?

Leo is building me one like it in a couple years.
Yeah, I fell in love with that one as well. I hope Jason's kids make some use of it.

I'm thrilled that you're finally having Leo build you one also and I'll be following every post of the process! How many frets to the body? I see you spec'd ebony for the bridge. Ask Leo how a Brazilian bridge might affect the tone.

I'll be eagerly watching this magnificence take shape...

This will be 14 frets to the body. Leo asked about doing a 13, but I don't want to rock the boat. I don't like being the first for any new guitar designs. I'll ask him about Brazilian vs. ebony, but I'm trying to keep the price from going nuts. So I'll almost certainly skip it.

They reported a while back that they wouldn't supply EVO anymore. Perhaps this is old stock or perhaps they found a way? Regardless, cool!

JT is going to charter me a private plane, of course!

Ha! I know. The timing is coincidence, I assure you. This build has been a LONG time in the making.

Sorry! I'll insult The Tree again so that I get banned from the forum.

Thanks for posting this and congratulations Juston. I’m looking forward to getting a glimpse into Leo’s workshop. I’ve never been, but I owe him a visit. Perhaps I should time my visit towards the end of this thread?

While I never did meet Jason, I did get to play his guitar…it is lovely. Yours will be too, and choosing the sister set to your friends is beautiful.

Huge congrats on the build, I very much look forward to the updates. Leo is one of my favourite luthiers and I am grateful to already have a 12 fret Jumbo of his in my possession with a second build coming up this year that I also postponed due to various reason (also in Adi/ and the insanely expensive type of mahogany that still causes me sleepless nights for good and bad reasons even though the build is already six years in the making).

Is it only me that can't see the pictures in the first post?

I gave Leo some tips on how to shape the braces and where to put them. Fortunately for both of us, he completely ignored me. I guess my 15 years of couch luthiery just don't garner much respect.

Ah! The famous "Cat Whiskers" bracing pattern!

It will be very interesting to see the whole bracing pattern once it's laid out. It has the traditional "X", I would be curious to know the thinking behind the modifications...
