Default Gibson love welcome in here

I regretfully sold an AJ, j-45 and j-100 in the past. All guitars looking back, sounded pretty amazing. After owning every brand from a-z, the Gibson tone and playability is really quite amazing.

Sure the braces might look like a beaver chewed them up, or the guy adding the glue was having a seizure mid application, but I've learned that's the charm with a gibson. Kind of like the philosophy behind Waterloos having glue marks and are kind of unrefined on the inside.

It's all about tone and playability. Sure there are modern sounding guitars with impeccable workmanship. And they are great and have their purpose. I'm bored with those guitars at this time in my life. Back to where I started with gibson and martins.

Cue "cool story bro"

I'll use any excuse to post the perfection that is a Gibson sunburst with a firestripe pickguard.

Gibsons grab me like no other brand (and I have a few Martins too).

The only Gibson I would give house room to is the AJ, a truly great guitar. Personally I dislike short scale, and I'm not a fan of Gibson's mahogany or maple guitars. I honestly think there are so many Gibsons which would benefit hugely from a long scale-especially the J45. I've tried so hard to find something to love about them...a rosewood J185 with a 25.5" scale, for example, could be a wonderful thing. I'd jump on one in a heartbeat.

The only Gibson I own was made in 1934. It is an archtop.

I have played old L-00s which impressed me, and decided to look for a new Gibson. They had a good selection but none seemed to have any real resonance. I bought a Waterloo.

I wanted a Roy Smeck style. They bought out the Jackson Browne - I went to check them out in two differnt stores - neither guitar would have passed quaity control in any other brand.

I eventually, bought a Santa Cruz.

I realise that most guitars need to be opened up and played in, and that it is often necessary to have a set up to your requirements - but .........

Gibson love? You bet!

I adore my WM-180. Sounds beautiful (strummed, fingerpicked, flatpicked), feels great, and has understated, plain appointments with a gorgeous piece of silky sitka for the top. I feel lucky to have it.

I've been a Gibson guy on the electric side since I started playing.

However, I just got my first Gibson acoustic, an L-00.

Don't know why I waited so long, its a great guitar. Easy to play, and a great sound. Sounds very good plugged in (I installed a Baggs m80) so I am all set. Definitely a keeper.

I got a Gibson Dove in Cherry Sunburst for my 40th birthday in NYC (a trip from the UK to Colorado and NYC en route home) and 11 years later I still love it more with each passing day...
