Honestly the biggest change I would like would be a separate WTB section.

You can filter forum search results to see only WTB (assuming the poster has added the appropriate prefix to their thread):

Search > Click here to use the forum search instead

Under Search Options / Find Threads With Prefix, select "Want to Buy" then click Search Now. Voila!

I'd like to see WTB ads limited to one single brand/model of guitar. I've seen ads where the OP posts such broad parameters as to what they're looking for and it turns into a discussion that keeps getting bumped by those trying to move a guitar and guess that it's just what the poster is looking for....

I wish...though it may not? be reasonable?...to require for sale posters to include pictures of the item for sale.

Nothing is more frustrating to me than seeing an ad for a very interesting guitar...or other equipment, but mostly guitars...for sale, but then comes the dreaded "email me for pic's" phrase.

What if there could be a "for fee $$" service provided by this forum where the forum would post pictures for the seller if requested by the seller and paid for?

duff

I also confess that I always get a sarcastically bemused kick out of the guitar ad's that include the line, or variant thereof..."this is the best guitar I have ever owned, played, seen, heard...but...I'm selling to make room for..."

OK, have to chime in. Mine are posts that have a header along the lines of "Putting out a feeler..." or words to that effect. Don't be coy. Either be serious about listing a guitar, or keep it. Games like that totally turn me off and I would never buy a guitar sight-unseen (sending money on faith alone that the poster will honor the rules here) from someone who plays games. Perhaps I should respond to those listings with something along the lines of: I'm putting out a feeler that I will send you money, please go ahead and send me the guitar!

Pretty much mint, with a few minor dings.

No photos of said minor dings.

I very much appreciate the hard work that the Moderators do for this site. My suggestion wasn't intended to pile more work on their plate.

One of my other pet peeves is when they bump it up to say it's sold. When you do that, it pushes peoples active for sale listings down the page - even more when people pile on and say "congratulations to the seller and buyer" or "I wish I'd had the cash to buy that one". Just be a little more thoughtful.
This! 100%

Aww shucks. When I saw Francis, I got excited and thought we were talking "Francis the talking Mule" Then I saw psycho and realized it was just Stripes.

My pet peeve--not listing your location. I'll drive a few hours to look at a guitar but I won't buy sight unseen.

I was thinking about this kind of fishing net....

These are always fun and dangerous, but if ya fella has $1500 to spend, what do you have?

No dreads, 12 strings or cutaways
Would be tempted by a burst.

Let me know.

Actually the goal would be to avoid the WTB threads clogging up the sales threads. If I search for something 2/3rd of the threads I get are WTB threads instead of sale threads.

My pet peeves are ads with no pictures and no price in a readily obvious place. When I open a classified ad without good pictures and obvious price, I quickly move along. I also do no appreciate ads with pictures so large you can't read the text that describes the guitar. It seems like it would be in the sellers best interest to present their offering in the most attractive format if they want to sell the guitar.
