I was impressed that they made the effort to bookmatch the laminated back so that it looks symmetrical.

I'll echo what Wade said, Zguitz's reply was new information to me and was much appreciated.
I haven't played enough of other Godin stuff to generalize about their non-laminated b&s models, but I sure like my two wild cherry/cedar Seagulls.
