Default 1996 Somogyi Thin-Body Mod D Indian/Sitka - Dealer Post

If a guitar’s got anything to do with Ervin Somogyi and the California Guitar Trio, you know it’s going to be good. Exhibit A: our 1996 Somogyi Thin-Body Mod D (TBMD for short) in Indian Rosewood and Sitka Spruce.
Think up a list of all the cool innovations you’d like your ideal fingerstyle guitar to feature and chances are this TBMD already has them: multiscale fretboard, Manzer-style body wedge, square offset soundports on the lower bout, L.R. Baggs Anthem UST & mic combo. Oh, and the tone juice from years in the hands of the California Guitar Trio that's saturated the Sitka Spruce top. And a green Calton flight case! We almost forgot about that part, sorry. It’s just so easy to just get lost in the frets on this one.
The L.R. Baggs Anthem combo UST and microphone is an incredible pickup bundled with a mix control to blend between the microphone and undersaddle element—the lightweight TBMD with its Manzer wedge and slim sides was designed with the stage in mind, and there it surely succeeds. The smaller air cavity steers the voice towards more punch and control than Somogyi’s full-size Mod D, making it excellent for recording as well.
Ervin went back over the TBMD a few years back and set it up with its current oil-slick playability. Voiced for altered tunings (like NST or DADGAD, suppose), the TBMD remains a crisp and responsive multiscale wonder with a scale of 26 inches in the bass to 25 1/8 inches at the trebles.

Default Guitar !!

Unusual guitar here. Wondering why the sound ports are where they are positioned, it looks as if here was a pickup system there and it's been remodeled? Because I can't imagine the benefit of a sound port almost being blocked off by your upper right arm? Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe it's just an interesting design feature? I'm sure it's grey and rare to beat the band!

Also looks like that saddle has been moved way back to a much different position

Than the original one. Very interesting, surely that would affect the intonation?
