Default OK, who's responsible for this?

I've been searching the web for a new acquisition and every time I find an outstanding guitar at any of the known websites, someone has beaten me to it and all I read is 'SOLD' or 'NO LONGER AVAILABLE' or 'OUT OF STOCK' and so on.
C'mon now guys & girls, who's buying all those exceptional guitars days or hours before I find them, and what's your trick to get there before me????

Ludwig

Might've been me on one or two of them. But you'll have to tell me which guitars you're talking about first.

well I recall there was one Martin 000-42 with a beautifull Madagascar back, a two piece which looked like it was 4 piece AAA and the other was an OM 42 also very pretty Madagascar with an exceptional flamed mahogany neck, both were custom shop builds. I forgot most of the others so I guess they weren't that spectacular after all, or were they? Dang, I must take notes.

How often do you check back. Some live at those sites and bookmark them, check at least daily.

Maybe you should try to automate your search.

I use an RSS reader from a site called Protopage to view Craigslist RSS feeds.
You just search on what you want on CL, then grab the RSS URL using the link on the bottom of the search results and then stick that URL into your reader.

I use IFTTT to automate EBay - I have a rule that if a specific guitar is posted on E-Bay I get a text messages.

I haven't figured out a good way to automate searching a site but you can use google to search a site. For example I'm interested in a Martin 2-17 so I put this search term into Google to get all of them on GBase. (no quotes) "site:www.gbase.com martin 2-17"

If you just want to know whenever anything comes up about the guitar you covet you might try using Google Alerts.

happy hunting.

Dan, I know I want a guitar the minute I see it and from that moment on the wheels get in motion. Phonecalls, e-mails etc.. I can't live there but I see what you mean, I'm checking, I'm checking and it's gone, lol.
Somebody hates me.

The problem may be searching for acquisitions instead of playing what you have. If it is meant to be, they will come to you.

Pastor Steve's was a good response. Also you might exercise a little patience and order a custom just for yourself.

This photo, plus many others and a phenomenal video review by John of this custom Taylor beauty was on Shoreline Music's website for near a year! I discovered all that surfing across the web one day. Mesmerized, it was soon mine. So be patient and keep looking. Oh, and this guitar sounds better than it looks, so patience pays off big!

I know the feeling. There's one particular item I'm looking for, and every morning when I get up and again in the evening right before bed, I do a Google search. I don't need it, but I want it. If I ever see one again, I'm going for it right then. I will explain to my spouse at a later date. Ruin hath taught me not.
