Default What is the Best Reverb Pedal?

There are so many great ones out there, right now. Strymon makes great everything pedals. The TC Hall of Fame has gotten great reveiws and that's only about $150 new. Most of my amps don't have verb. I don't mind, but I've been thinking that could be fun. I may buy the TC. Any other not out there priced pedals?

you may want to go to your local big box store and check out all they have. take your g&l so you know how they work with your guitar. unfortunately, there are so many out there including the ones that are online only and not in the stores. but, at least you'll have an idea about which ones pique your interest.

i happen to have the strymon big sky reverb and it is a fantastic unit.

play music!

When I was gigging, I used the internal reverb of my Mesa/Boogie MkIIB. When I started gigging with a Fender Bandmaster or TopHat Club Royale, I found that I didn't really need reverb for gigging. For home playing/practicing, a little reverb does add to the pleasure (at least for me). For home playing and somewhat subtle reverb, I have found that the Electro Harmonix Holy Grail is just fine. And for even cheaper, I have a Biyang Tri-Reverb pedal that is probably just as good. If you need more than subtle and a lot of variety/controllability, the Strymon Blue Sky is great. I've not tried the TC stuff, but they seem to be well received/reviewed.

For versatility and price I think the Hall of Fame is very hard to beat. The Toneprint function is very nice. I have downloaded some nice Prints. Only downside is you can only store one Toneprint at a time. I prefer the spring reverb setting better than some amp's tube driven reverb....Just some amp's. There are definitely better reverb pedals, but not in this price market.

If you can, play a few stand alone reverb tanks as well. Yes they are a hassle to haul around. Yes you will end up driving 250 miles, with your tank at the bottom of gear pile having forgotten to "lock" the pan and hearing it jangle the whole way But for some of us, there is no substitute. Not just old surf heads like me either. It's a fundamental part of Neil Young's rig.

Not a pedal expert, but I am very very happy with my TC Electronics Hall of Fame. I don't even use the Toneprint feature and I love it.

As a bit of a pedal geek, I know the answer:

The *best* pedal is the one you don't yet have, but are poised to buy!

It's hard to argue with the Hall of Fame considering it's features and it's price. There are slews of killer players who use that pedal, (including Robben Ford).

That said, I A/B'd it with my Strymon Flint and the Flint was worth the extra money to me. I'm still thrilled by it almost two years later.

That is a classic pedal. I can't justify the extra $220

Looked up this one. BYOC has a kit that uses that Belton chip, and it gets high marks for a good spring reverb emulation, which is what I'm after. I think I'll order one of the kits next time I have some fun money.

Agree with this. I have a Hall of Fame and it's fantastic. Your less expensive option is the Hall Of Fame mini, and if you have an iphone you can control it that way. No difference from the circuit in the big brother. TC makes great pedals.
