i recently tried a few guitars with Fishman Fluence pickups (single coils and vintage humbuckers) and was shocked by how effective they were. as this type of tech advances, i could easily see a set of pickups having three distinct voices that are at least 90% of the way to various standards (would personally love 50s Strat, vintage P90s, and vintage PAF in one pickup). i could see this style of pickup leading to the "do it all" solution inside of the body and neck shape you prefer in the near future.
