Default String lost it's tension?

Howdy folks,

Just a quick one:
I was just messing around with my Tanglewood bending strings behind the nut and at some point the high E started going down to almost no pitch. I have no idea what happened and I couldn't see anything special happening around the tuning peg. I just had to crank it all the way back up in tune...
What could this have been?
The string didn't break, so all is OK.

Default maybe this

The ball end of the sting could have been below the end of the pin and string friction between the pin and string held the string in until you put that extra pressure on it. The ball end could have then slid up causing extra length on the string. When you tightened at the peg, it locked the ball end in tight.

Funny, because the ball ends have been properly seated for well over two weeks..?

I'd say the windings on the tuner slipped - it's not necessarily something that would be visually obvious.

That must have been it, but usually this only happens when actually putting on the new strings... how?

If it lost that much tension, I would also say it was at the bridge peg. Never seen a string lose that much at the tuning peg.

That little guitar hasn't gone any further than DADGBD and DADGAD. Slapping shouldn't really detune strings and bending... that's kinda redundant.
Yeah, I've probably been lucky for a loooong time.

Nothing at all at the bridge peg, btw.
