Default April Meservy, Nikki Forova, David Lane - Saturday, April 26

April Meservy and Nikki Forova will play Saturday, April 26 at the South Valley Unitarian Universalist Society (6876 South Highland Dr, SLC, UT 84121). Social hour from 6 to 7 pm, with music from 7 to 9 pm. David Lane and Friends opening. Cost is $10 per person with all funds going to the artists.

April Meservy

Five time Pearl Award Winning Singer-Songwriter, April Meservy has been featured on albums and compilations released all over the world, in addition to film and commercial spots. She toured nearly 50 cities throughout the Western and Midwestern United States, after the recent release of her debut album, Somewhere Between Sunsets.

Originally hailing from Reno, Nevada, April's love for singing and songwriting has led her to opportunities to perform in places as far away as China and as close as Salt Lake City, such as her invitation to sing in Salt Lake City's Olympic Square during the 2002 Winter Olympics. She has performed alongside platinum-selling singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson (Vanguard Records) and other notable musicians across the country from Los Angeles to Boston.

As a credit to her work in the studio, April has been honored with three Pearl Awards for "Studio Vocalist of the Year" and she recently received an award from the Interfaith Power & Light Earth Song Competition for her song "Marks of My Path," released on this new record. "I can honestly say this is one of the best albums I own" says Nicole Sheahan, Singer-Songwriter and freelance writer, "It's not a CD where you skip through half the songs to get to your two or three favorites. It's a journey that invites the listener to feel and think. It's someone putting their heart out on their sleeve, inviting you to take it and relate."

Nikki Forova

MTV-Duet Winner Nikki is an indie singer/songwriter who compares to the likes of Imogen Heap, Tori Amos, Vanessa Carlton and Regina Spektor. Her craftsmanship on the piano is more than just elegant. Songs like “Skywriter” and “Revving Wings” grasp that inner feeling of intense emotion. The combination of Nikki’s powerful vocals, serene musical melody, especially in “After Today” and “Little Green Piece of Life” capture such intense feelings of incredible beauty, that it feels like falling in love. That’s putting it lightly,” says radio host from “The Great Unknowns” in Los Angeles, Mikey Jayy.

Nikki just released her sophomore album, White Dandelions, produced by Patrick Wood and Andreas Ollson.

David Lane and Friends

David is a singer/songwriter whose voice has been compared to Cat Stevens. His bluesy folk/pop songs tell stories of loss, motorcycles, protest, and the struggle of ever really leaving a small town. David is joined by Richard Coleman on bass, Travis Potter on guitar, Amy Quigley on vocals, and Collin Surles on cajon.
