Doerr Custom Legacy build

Thanks, Ray...glad you enjoyed the build thread! The guitar continues to be amazing in beauty and tone. I keep it mostly in DADGAD where it shines....but really in any tuning it's fabulous.
During the build, I heard someone describe the back bracing as "a flying back brace", in that it doesn't touch the surface of the back, maybe someone will chime in on this. this was the approach on Tom's "Standard" builds......he also has some differences with his "Select" builds with ladder bracing. not sure whether this bracing occurred due to materials used or that his standard build is a bit less expensive than the select models. I know he was really pleased with this bracing for his guitars.
Yes, you need the lottery or pesos, or rubles, etc. to get it done! The good news is that you have time with this kind of build to raise dollars over time. the entire project for me took 2 years when you factor in paying for it. No regrets!! Tom is just a great guy with amazing skill and artistic sense......still in touch from time to time with him.

Thanks again to Ray for posting pics and updating this thread. I often send Tom Doerr some of my music played on the Legacy so he can hear more from the guitar he built nearly two years ago.
I just completed one of my songs on the Legacy and Tom really enjoyed it and suggested attaching it to the build thread or similar as he felt the sound/tone was very representative of the guitar and folks might enjoy. Normally I just add to Soundcloud and folks find their way through to it. Here's the link.

The clip isn't "dry" but has very little post processing.

Midnight Melody was absolutely beautiful, Fred--wish I could make my Legacy sound like that! It's definitely not an issue with the guitar...

I recall when that Legacy came home with you as I believe I had just gotten on to Tom's build list and was following Doerr Guitars VERY closely!
