Default "Stormy" by Classics IV (cover)

I have not been using Soundcloud; I wanted to do videos. But I have so much recorded from the past before my days of video, that I thought it might be worthwhile sharing a different side of my music.

This is "Stormy" by the Classics IV (Dennis Yost, James Cobb, Buddy Buie). I recorded this as a multi-track using my Gibson ES-335, so this is an electric song. As electric songs go, it's still fairly mellow.

I recorded this in 2004, so 13 years ago, for an album for my father's 82nd birthday.

Thanks for listening!

- Glenn

the classics lv and the Atlanta Rhythm Section (formed by a couple of guys from Classics lV) were favorites of mine. Love the lead guitar player (JR Cobb I believe)

Thank you Doug,

I'm really glad you like this. It's not my usual acoustic stuff, but the truth is, I like all kinds of music.

Thanks,
Glenn

Cool! I didn't know that the Classics IV and the Atlanta Rhythm Section were connected. What an interesting piece of information. And now that you mention it, I hear a musical connection there.

Thanks for listening!

Nice one! Some variation is always good

How big is your collection with 'old' stuff? Couple of gigabytes?

Hey Glenn,
Nicely done!

It was strange to NOT hear the minor to major prior to the chorus.

I did 2 albums at Studio 1 in Doraville in 1970-71. Buddy was a very, very talented character!

Barry Bailey was the 'lead' player, although JR was a very competent guitarist.

Barry Bailey is one of my early guitar player inspirations, in a big way.

He's basically retired now, and has had MS for a while.

Howard

Hi Rick,

Thank you for taking time to comment! I'm glad you liked this, and yes, it is a variation!

In terms of old recorded music, yes, I have a lot because I have been recording almost since I started playing and that's more than 5 decades. Not all of it is worth listening to, but some of it surprises me after all these years.

Thanks Rick!

Hi Jim,

Thank you! I'm very pleased that you liked this!

About getting the -335 out, I have the same feeling when I listen to this or similar songs. It sure is a good sound for an electric guitar!

Throw back Monday! Love it Glenn! What a great overlay of sound in creating this multi track......along with some great singing and interpretation of the song.
Glad to hear this "other side" of you!
Keep 'em coming!

Fred
