I've been an insomniac my entire adult life and for me as well, ambien is the only thing that works. I've tried everything from white noise to melatonin. Nothing seems to work except ambien. Good that it works but bad that I need it to sleep. Such is life. My professional hours (commissioned sales) were 24 x 7 (I was the deal closer) and I never could get used to that.

There is nothing like a good nights sleep which for me is 8 hours. I retired a couple of years ago so if I don't get my 8 hours, I stay in bed until I do :-). I can function on less but I feel great with 8.

I’m usually in bed by midnight and up at 5:30. I suppose since I retired in October 2017 I have maintained the same sleeping pattern I kept while working. The odd time I’ll have an afternoon nap, but it’s usually my better half who will say she is tired and will state she needs an afternoon nap and I’ll join her (wink, wink)
