Hunwick has not been playing very well, but he's not alone. Personally I would rather that the Pens had kept Cole and traded Hunwick, but I doubt that Cole's presence would have changed the outcome of last night's game. The Pens 4th line has been a nightmare the past 3 games. They can't possess the puck, and seem to spend all of their time in their own end skating in circles while the opposition peppers the net. Last night 4th liner Carter Rowney was on the ice for 5 goals against. Pens team defense is a hot mess right now.

How about Seattle pre-selling 25,000 season tickets in just 30 minutes? Amazing. Nothing official but they'll have a team in 2 years.

Weren't they the baseball team?

Outdoor game tonight in Annapolis. Toronto vs Washington. Yesterday there were rumors the game might be cancelled due to the weather but hopefully things are better today.

Pens end their losing streak at 3 games. Sid scores the winning goal in OT for a 3-2 win against the Islanders right after the Pens PK did a great job of killing a penalty. Game wasn't as close as the score might indicate. Pens dominated for much of the game. Isles rookie goalie, Gibson, kept it close with some amazing saves. Pens outshot the Isles 50-27!

Crosby and Marchard both scored in OT last night. 50 shots, that's insane.

Taylor Hall point streak now at 25 games! He scored again today. That's the 3rd or 4th biggest streak in the past 25 years.

I believe both the Leafs and Devils are very real playoff contenders. Both have exceptional young offensive talent, and can play a speed game to perfection. If both of their defenses hold up I see one or both in the ECF. They've got the legs.

I have a great deal of respect for Mr. Babcock. He's a great coach. However, don't discount what John Hynes brings to the Devils. He's been very successful at every level. Was the Pens top minor league coach for several years before getting the NJ job (under current Devils GM Ray Shero), and is responsible for much of the success the Pens have had the past two Cup years with their infusion of young players.

And Lou Lamoriello who's done a great job getting things together. Of course, heading into the playoffs I don't think there's too much he can do at this point given he can do little regarding player movement. I'm a big Babcock and Lamoriello fan (I did have Devils season tickets 1 year).

Flames visit the Pens tonight. Let's go Pens!

Pens down the Flames in OT 4-3. Kind of a sloppy game from both teams, but very entertaining. Malkin with a goal and 2 assists is only 3 points behind Kucherov for the league lead and 3 goals behind Ovechkin for the Richard Trophy. He's been on fire for 2 months. Unfortunately Sid looked disinterested, just mailing it in. My guess is that changes on Wednesday when the Pens go to Philadelphia for a showdown with the much hated Flyers.

First round is shaping to be vs the Bruins.

The turn around after firing Claude has been amazing. If he was still in Boston they'd be playing all the old guys while the kids sat, and fighting for the number 8 slot.

If Claude didn't have 3 years left on his contract the Habs would fire him again. He's been so bad, they might even eat those 3 years and fire him anyway. It's sad how the game has passed Claude by, he used to be considered an excellent coach.

Happy to see Montreal flounder. They won't make the playoffs this year.

The Bruin's star rookie defenseman McAvoy is out 4 weeks with a MCL tear. Another big injury for the Bruins (Bergeron).
