The JB's I've had experience with were usually owned by a rental company, split the revenue with the bar and stocked the music themselves.

It was in their best interest to stock it with singles people wanted to hear and would pay for.

Same outfits rented pool tables and other bar coin op machines.

When I was a young bar back (underage 17) the owner told me to watch the guys who came and counted the coins from the table. He had a scale and would weigh the quarters which would say how much was there.

As soon as the owner went into the back, the guy took a couple big scoops and put them into the counted bucket.

When the owner came back I said a quick word to him. He went and said "Let's count it again, huh?"

Ended up being a decent amount of money, in the rental companies' favor.
