Default SOLD Laurie Williams Ancient Kauri Tui Model w/ Cutaway

NEW PICS ON 3rd PAGE

Howdy Folks, up for grabs is my 2005 Williams made with a Kauri top and "Ancient Kauri" back and sides... 1 3/4+ nut width and 2 1/4 string spacing... Gotoh tuners... Ameritage case with his logo... Very Clean condition for a 10+ year old guitar, used not abused, small ding on side... There is a McIntyre pickup installed, I've never used it, I don't plug in. Very legit saddle height left and perfect playability, as good as it gets...
Nice jumbo frets and a neck profile that I wish was on ALL guitars, love it...

The tone of this guitar is very alluring... much more vintage than i ever expected. Ive followed this story of ancient bog wood ever since i first saw them on Dream Guitars, I'd say 2002 or so... Pretty amazing having wood that's thousands of years old... Anyways, I've always assumed they were more of a modern tone, but this one falls more in a vintage category too... Its my one and only example I've played. There is a nice long crystal clear sustain and a big dry full bass... The tone was a bit stiff when I first got her, but a true classic acoustic tone, and I liked it... she's much more open now and pretty alive, Ive played her quite a bit... I'd compare the tone to a nice aged maple, with some lush rosewood qualities as well... Great for strumming... and good for finger picking, finger style etc... it has that everyday tone that simply sounds good... Any acoustic lover would have fun with this one... Its been a privilege to own and enjoy. I have some 2017 orders coming up, I'm on green collecting mode!

Lauri has a pretty big price range, depending on quality of wood and bling factor... I "haven't" seen wood as nice as my guitar on any of the lower priced Tui models that come on the market from time to time, and those are often 5-6K... This wood has a tad bit of the white bait look too, kind of like fish swimming up stream. Very gorgeous stuff.. The Kauri for the top is pretty cool too, there is a shimmer/chatoyancy affect that is unique and attractive... The tops changes look every which way you view it.. cool stuff...

A new one would be $10K or so...

$OLD

Smile Oh my goodness...

Wow DD!

What a sweetheart guitar. Hope you do not miss it too much!

If only we could keep them all....

But that would require a LOT of maintaining! Haha

Could cut into playing time!

This guitar from this seller at this price should go FAST

Cheers

Paul

Paul, RIGHT, if only

Just loaded a couple quick iPhone clips... Very tough to capture any true tone with an iPhone, lol, but you'll get an idea, and have some imagination

This is one amazing guitar! The wood is eye-poppingly beautiful and it sounds sublime! Even at this give-away price however, bad timing for me. Someone's going to be very happy, I'm sure! Best of luck!

There is a drum company that made some snares with this wood and they were very, very good and unique.

So glad this maker decided to use Kauri for the top, too. Amazing tone.

Thx for the comments Folks... The neck is Kauri also yes, with a tulip wood center strip, and Madagascar binding..

Really exciting instrument to play, a new fun pallet to explore... ever so familiar yet new at the same time... cool guitar!

Default Sweetness Otra Vez!

Now hold on Mr. DD, how could you do this to me (lol)? Folks out there what you're looking at when you view this guitar is pretty much perfection with a capital P. I know from playing this guitar personally at Mr. DD's House of Temptation, that it is pretty much all one could ask for in a guitar. This guitar possesses tone, playability, and killer visual appeal. So..why didn't I purchase it you ask? Well I thought that a short scale mahogany varnished Collings was more my style, and in addition the Brazilian Bourgeois was something that has peaked my curiosity for some time now. Both instruments were purchased from Mr. DD and they just kill as well. Guys/Gals out there in AGF land do yourselves a favor, and get in touch with Mr. DD regarding this guitar you won't regret it. Oh...something else you all should know about Mr. DD, he's a deal maker baby, but don't tell him I told you.

I played one of these guitars 10 years ago at High Desert Guitars in Santa Fe, NM. They actually had 2 at the time. They are amazing guitars.
