As NFL players have become more and more specialized as to their training and body development for their positions, you've got running backs weighing in around 200 pounds who might be tackled/blocked by one or more players tipping the scales at 300+ pounds. Talk about a recipe for injuries....

Woods claims to be pain free after undergoing his fourth back surgery in April, and his peers have reported a spring in his step and a rehabilitated swing that is out-driving world No.1 Dustin Johnson ahead of the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas.

An anecdotal story of Tiger Woods, is not data. However, here is an anecdotal, I attended an ACC school and had close friends on both the football and golf teams, forty years latter, the golfers from my class are still playing golf and the football players are taking daily pain medication, having knee replacements, dealing with old injuries, from having played at the Division I level.
After 4 back surgeries ........
How many of them arose from playing football ?
And many that never participated in sports are taking pain meds and have had knee replacements .
Choose your path , but please refrain from the arrogance of choosing for or limiting others .
This thread began as a discussion of severe football injuries and as related to the NFL .
It has morphed into something vastly different and has become a conclusion in search of supporting evidence . So typical .
Bye bye .

You do realize that you're the "morpher" who initiated the specious comparison between pro football injuries and golf injuries???

Otter,

You are the one who elected to discuss the topic of golf and Mr. Woods. I cited an article which contradicts your statement regarding Mr. Woods future of life long pain which you provided as an attempt to support your position and I elected to provide an anecdotal story, given the liberty to do so which you provided.

None of us are privy to Mr. Woods medical records and given Mr. Woods performance decline in golf occurred after a car accident, we may never no the true cause of all his surgeries, thus attributing them solely to golf is speculation.

Question Is this to continue?

It's getting *painful* to watch an NFL game-what with all the injury stoppage and timeouts-yesterday was full of 'em again! This is definitively the most injuries I've ever seen during NFL games
