Oh, I remember it well. I was also watching the MNF game. Shocking... and so sad.

My stereo was tuned to a local FM station, except when there was vinyl spinning. It was on 24/7, I never turned it off.
When they announced the news, I turned it off, and it was a week before it was back on.

Yes. I had been at the library studying for a final (grad schooldays). I tuned in to watch the news, but saw the end of the game instead. Then Cosell announced that something terrible had happened. I was crying. My mom came in and asked why I was crying—then I found words to tell her. Then she started crying.

John Lennon's shooting was yesterday. We missed it. Hard to believe it was so very long ago. I was 31 years old, he was 40. Time marches on. As our hero's, musical or otherwise, pass on, we tend to reflect on our own lives, the milestones, the celebrations, the regrets, the "wish I could do overs" the "I wouldn't change that's".. I don't know about you but the older I get the more nostalgic I get. Family members gone, children having children, and we move closer to eternity, one day at a time. I, for one, loved growing up when I did. Magical times. And the day Lennon was killed was a bookmark of our generation. Just thinking

Yeah, what a loss.
Btw, there was a thread posted in Open Mic about it the day before the anniversary date. http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=492078

I made it to Central Park's Strawberry Fields a few times. Always fresh flowers.

I remember the day clearly, it was actually the 9th we heard about it because of the time difference & in my final week or 2 of school. it was all anyone could talk about on the day particularly the senseless nature of his murder, why?
That night I was working at a local supermarket & on the radio in the background they played "Watching the Wheels" as a tribute, seemed such a fitting epitaph. I was a bit overwhelmed & looking around at my fellow workers realised I wasn't the only one. It was a bad year in that sense also considering the loss of Bon Scott & John Bonham.
