Default New Series - "Knightfall"

"Knightfall" starts next week of the History Channel. Take place in 14th Century France and the remnants of the Knights Templar set out to recover The Grail.

I love this stuff.

Sounds like something I'd be interested in. Going to have to set the PVR.

The Queen of France twist was pretty interesting.

I found that a bit over the top. The ultimate in "guillotine bait"

Visually reminds me of Wishbone Ash "Argus" album. That's not a bad thing!

Wanted to like it, was excited to see it. Honestly I was fairly disappointed. Pretty pedestrian story, and moved pretty slow. I'll give it one more episode.

Let's review....

Starts with Siege and battle of Acre. Catapults and flaming balls of fire.

Direct hit on the ship carrying the Holy Grail. Grail presumably lost.

Cut to France 15 years later. Head of French order of Templars is set upon and fights a group of highwaymen, prodigious blood flows.

Second in command to said head of order is best friends with the King AND is boinking the Queen on the side.

Cryptic optical clue is found indicating aforementioned Grail may not be lost.

Templars intervene to prevent murder of Jews exiled from city, more prodigious blood spilled.

Yep, pretty pedestrian stuff. Bring on the "Law and Order" re-runs.

Just didn't grab me. Not the first swords and armor historical revisionism epic ever created, right? It did seem pedestrian in the genre. Maybe I didn't like the casting. Happy if others liked it, but I was hoping for something more original.
