absolutely. i'd post a/b clips, but i'm tired. no downside i can think of. i'll only be using it for recording. it's (now) shocking to hear what a difference it makes, getting your (my) arm off of the top.

it has the suction cups, but i don't need to affix them to the sides. i have a nitro finish, and am a little leery of creating permanent circles.

no, it appears to be all good, and does exactly what i had hoped it would.

if anyone is interested, here's an a/b example. in the first short clip, you can hear the wah effect i was getting, right at about 9 to 10 seconds. in the second clip, no such problem, and the guitar had naturally less emphasis in the 300hz to 400hz range, with the only difference being using that arm rest.

i'm sold.

Yeah, that's a pretty significant difference.
I think I'll try one myself for no other reason than to lessen
the low-mids of my guitar in a recording.

Thanks,

Jim

Before you think otherwise, this is a serious reply...

If you were really serious about recording wouldn't standing up while recording eliminate the need for one of these things, or is the only way you like to play sitting down?

I have never noticed this arm effect thing in my recordings so your mileage my vary. Plenty effect can result from small changes in the recording setup however.

An arm can cause an audible frequency interference? This isn't one of those bridge-pin tonal belief systems is it? The DAW guy might be a student of the everything-makes-a-difference schools of thought, meaning, if you are constantly listening for something wrong chances are you're gonna be rewarded by it, real or imagined, and usually the latter. The only time I've ever decided I actually heard something off with a guitar it was humidity related.

i'm glad the mystery has been solved. i was literally pulling my hair out over it.
I am a big fan of John Pearse armrests - I don't record but this does make a difference that is very noticeable to me.

And, you have my condolences over your literal hair loss.
