Default Museum piece 1860 in classifieds

According to seller it could be a Martin, and I wonder what it's value is.

Whatever its value you need to very careful, you need some serious knowledge here to have it appraised. Do some real homework to substantiate any claims then do some more.

Default Not a Martin

And I do not think its LaCote either and I would think more like 1890-1910 would be closer to the age. Here are some examples of LaCote.

Their were so many makers of guitars and other intruments in the mid 1800's its mind blowing -their is no simple answer with a discription and a photo -just dealing with american instruments of that time period is mind blowing - that was a time in history like it is today where just about everybody had a guitar in their home ( or mandolin, fiddle etc )

who knows? i would guess it's a reproduction of something possibly german in origin -and not really from the 1800's it's too clean and neat. the inlay is a mix of herringbone and shell? no mastic?. besides, why would a museum be getting rid of it online in such a careless fashion? a permanent display no less. bad pictures, no data, no paperwork, etc.. could be worth $1,500 or $15,000.
