Took awhile. Good example of what room acoustics and some gear upgrades can do is right on my music page when you compare the recorded
sound on my CDs 1 and 2 to those on my CDs 4 and 5. http://dcoombsguitar.com/Download.html

I'm not trying to be a smart guy, but I don't hear much difference. CDs 1&2 sound great to me.

Desktop speakers don't cut it, but glad to hear at least in some cases the early recordings get a pass sound wise.

Coincidentally, I'm going to be doing a mild renovation to my den / recording room this month. Also coincidentally, I work at a place where I have access to 703 boards. It won't be perfect, but I think my recording space will be much better soon!

Rick, thanks for posting that. It's really a great example of how much better recordings can sound in a treated room.

I listened to the first and last cds through Sony MDR-7506 headphones, and while the playing is superb on both, I hear a world of difference in the quality of the sound. The lastest cd has a smoother sound with a top end that's well-defined and lacks the brassiness of the earliest cd.
