Seems like no way to watch the race in the UK. Pity.

Would you believe it - I found it being streamed live on You Tube ! Very poor resolution and lots of adverts for drugs (???!!!) but I managed to watch it.

The pit stops made me laugh out loud, I missed the first big crash (saw the replay).

Sorry for Alonso, but he managed to avoid the pile-ups.

I do feel for Alonso - he is one of the best drivers in the world but has been dogged by bad luck and poor choices in recent years. Now he goes to Indy in search of a lift and to escape the dismal Honda engine only to have another Honda engine fail on him.

Whenever I see his name in print 'F Alonso' I feel like inserting an extra 'r' as Falornso would seem more appropriate.

It was nice to hear his radio message to Jenson at the start of the Monaco GP today (and Jenson's response). Let's hope he can get back to the success he deserves soon.

Or maybe just drop the 'n' and pronounce it 'Ah-lose-oh'.

Good to see 'Danny Ricky' on the podium at Monaco.

Alonso may be the rookie of the year at Indy. Ed Jones with a higher finish may beat him. Fernando Alonzo had never sat in an Indy Car until the race at Barber Motorsports Park. He was fitted for the seat and then went back to Europe. He reurned at the beginning of the month for rookie orientation. He is a quick learner and a skilled race car driver. He proved himself as a worthy competitor and he ran with the big dogs most of the race. He never put a wheel out of line. My guess is that he will be back.

I photographed Inday car racing from 1983 to 1996 including the Indy 500 from 1984 to 1995 and I have a pretty good handle on the sport and what it takes to win the Indy, Michigan and Pocono 500's. They are tough races and the tide can turn in an instant.

Takuma Sato is a voracious competitor and he beat the best that the Ganassi and Penske racing teams could field. He deserves the victor he earned. And, Honda will be happy that he won with a Honda engine.

Michael Andretti who won championships in CART never won the Indy 500, but as a team owner he now has won 5.

The race was one of the best in the last 20 years or so.

Lots of cool stuff in the race today. Andy, I was sorry to read earlier that you couldn't watch it, so I was hoping for Max Chilton to pull off a win for you. He did well. Bruce, I thought about you when Dixon went airborne! That was nasty; I'm both amazed and glad that he is OK. Alonso showed one of the fastest learning curves that I have ever seen in a 500. His tactics got better with every lap that went by. He was great today. Too bad the engine blew, but I bet he'll give it another try or two in the future. Sounds like it from his interview. Davison was tough, also without much prep time. Too bad for Helio, but he ran a great race after starting so far back in the field. And what can you say about Sato? He and his team showed great judgment and timing and he was aggressive at the right times. All in all, I thought it was a fantastic race. Can't wait 'til next May!

P.S. I think I watched the entire race...I need to get a life!
Andy, I hope that you are starting to feel better...

Around here, Sato is a very popular driver. He came after a short stint in F1 and his early years showed he had the guts but not the finesse. Went thru variety of teams and only got close to winning in 2012 when he wrecked. He and Tony Kanaan are always big crowd favorites.

Alonso did an unbelievable job, got a standing ovation from 350,000 people. Still, happy Sato got the win after all his years of dedication.

And Scott Dixon should buy a bunch of lottery tickets before he leaves.

Yeah, Honda's Indy engines and aerokits are a joke. There's a reason Chevy kicks their butts all over the place ever since they introduced the DW12 chassis.

I keep hoping my main man (James Hinchcliffe) gets a bid with a Chevy-powered team. He ain't ever going to win jack crap driving a Honda for Schmidt-Peterson.

Final race results for the top 10 show 6 Honda powered DW12's and 4 Chevrolet powered DW12's.

Sato was driving a Honda powered car. We had a Japanese driver winning with a Japanese engine. I guess he kicked butt.

Dixon certainly had a lucky star over him. A few more degrees of roll when the car hit the wall would have smashed him instead of the sidepod.
