Default Help with Luthier

Can anyone suggest a luthier who would build a very nice OM or OO (most likely a 12 fret) with a base price in the $3500- $3800 range ? Would hope to not have a wait time too excessive (1 yr).

Thanks for any help.

I can recommend Dermot McIlroy in Northern Ireland...check out the Cult of McIlroy threads on AGF.

I would recommend you check out the Dehradun Guitar Company (David Murray). Absolutely exquisite custom guitars, and I believe the base price is right within your zone. Their website is dehradunguitars.com.

At your budget, I would look no further than Jayson Bowerman of Bowerman guitars. I have one on the way myself!

What, in particular, are your needs or wants that are causing you to look for a luthier built guitar? (I'm not trying to talk you out of it). One reason I ask is that if you don't need specs that are quite different from 'typical', and if you have some time to shop arouind, your price range falls into a 'sweet spot' for used guitars (especially luthier built guitars that are really nice, but not built by a well known/high demand builder). As an example, there was/is a used Caldwell 00 in the AGF classifieds that was at an extremely attractive price.

Haha! It's probably going to be sometime next year if I'm lucky with gathering the funds for it. All I knew was that I wanted a guitar from Jayson and wanted in before his imminent price raise so I've sent him my deposit. I would have to figure the rest out some way or another. If you're feeling generous, you know how to get a hold of me though I'm guessing that won't happen given your line-up for 2017

According to Sonogyi's website, his base price is $35,000, not $3500. Truly a dream guitar.
