Dave's is the only place I purchase guitars from, but he's just 100 miles down rural scenic back roads from where I live. I simply can't find a reason for me to purchase a guitar anywhere else. If he doesn't have exactly what I'm looking for, he'll order it for me.

I get what you're saying about how technology has made such an impact on every level in recent years. For better or worse, retail sales will never be the same, even in a market as persnickety as acoustic guitar sales.

I know what you mean. It used to be that you often couldn't find exactly what you wanted. As a result you took what you could get. These days if you poke around a bit you can often find exactly what you want and at a good price.

When you add in the Plek system, you can rely on a level of playability you've never been able to expect before as well.

I don't know which dealer you went with (they're both good) but I've bought two guitars (a tele and a strat) from Dave in the past, and he is about as good as it gets when buying sight unseen. Just a great and trustworthy on-line source for that sort of thing.
That SG is a classic for sure. Enjoy!

It's a museum as much as one of the best shops in the world.

On modern.... Now that's paying with your wrist watch.

My guess is most guitar forums will confirm a poor experience with Dave's is uncommon. Look how big the place is on a map, know it's two stories, and know it's full of guitars (acoustic, electric) and amps.

Enjoy it in good health!

Dave's is in my home state although it's a pretty long drive. He's my all-time favorite dealer and well worth the road time. I've purchased from him in the past, many of my friends have bought and sold there as well, and the results are uniformly great. Huge selection, excellent prices, helpful and knowledgeable staff and a well-earned reputation as an honest businessman are standard fare at Dave's.

I know this reads like a commercial, and I'm sure there are other dealers who deserve your business as well. I hope to deal some day many of the other fine sellers I've read about here, but based on my personal experiences and those of my friends I can recommend Dave's without reservation.

I've bought and sold over reverb and online from Sweetwater. As a consumer/private seller it's hard to beat when you're dealing with reputable people and companies. It has definitely made life more difficult for traditional storefront businesses.

Yum. Enjoy. That's what it's all about!
(Gibson really did a good job in capturing that '61 "look". Very nice.)

That is a beautiful guitar. Congratulations.

You should post to the thread about smart phones being the crutch of a weak mind.

You might want to take a rasp to blunt those dangerously sharp and somewhat satanic-looking horns there Bob.

Accident waiting to happen IMO.
