Default Cool, Cheap Martin At Elderly

Saw this 0-16NY on Elderly's page this morning. Looks like a good deal on an 0 size Martin.

these are rare birds. I would call that a fair price.
Not a great deal. Sounds like it may have been
someone's restoration. So originality is suspect.
still they are great little parlors.I would research
and see what prices are elsewhere. last time i saw
one for sale i think it was in the 12 to 15 hundred range.
but i've seen them in the 2k to 3k range as well .
If your within reasonable range of elderly it would
be worth the trip to chk it out.
Then there is Cites and Brazilian.

It seems like a decent price. I would be tempted but I wouldn't enjoy the 1 7/8" nut width.

The New Yorker models are much beloved in some circles. Back in the 60s, my brother’s girlfriend had one I loved. I made do with my D-18.

I see what you did there, Biggles.

For those who missed the reference, most of Ian Anderson’s acoustic guitar playing on most Jethro Tull albums was on a Martin 0-16NY.

Looks like this one is sold already. I would own this model if it wasn't for the 1 7/8" nut, just a tad too wide for me.
This was a pretty good deal. A couple others have sold recently on ebay for $1500 that needed work.

I figured it wouldn't last long. They also have a nice custom 14 fret 00-21 for under $2K.

Thanks for posting that. My older brother the audiophile/collector liked Jethro Tull so I was a tiny bit familiar but never really "got" them and this video really opened my eyes.

I've often thought that I'll end up with one of those or a very old Martin O 18 when my hands start to give out. String them up with silk and steel tens, and they are very easy to play.
