My ultimate spec wish list that makes perfect sense (to me)
I've been thinking what would be the "ultimate" CF guitar?
For me, here is what I want to achieve:
So, here is my wacky idea....... I wish there was a guitar like an Emerald X7 with a Taylor-type removeable neck. No, no, I admire the Voyage Air concept but I don't want a folding neck. I don;t need to open and close it quickly. I want one that I can remove the neck, take it to my destination and then reassemble the neck. I would use wing-bolts, so it could be done without a wrench - just reach in the soundhole, tighten three wing bolts and restring it. For my purposes/desires, it takes 5 minutes to install such a neck and 5 minutes to restring a guitar. I could see using something like that when going on vacation - pop the neck off - toss it in a bag and fly to the beach. Unpack your clothes clothes, restring your guitar and you have a guitar on vacation for the week. With this, you could also tolerate a somewhat longer neck, such as a 24-7/8 scale.

Hmmm...sounds enough like the Journey to make me wonder if Robailey has met your criteria Fazool?

I was thinking Rainsong Parlor until the removable neck was mentioned. Yep, I think a Journey OF660 would do the trick for fazool quite nicely.

Oh, wow....I thought this was not attainable. You guys nailed it - the Journey OF660 is exactly what I was imagining - even the scale and nut width, etcetera.
Gosh, now I'm going to start the GAS fires......

Since the development of the NT neck, I've actually considered using a 100 series Taylor in this way, since I watched a tech remove the Taylor neck at a Road Show years ago.
Get a Pelican case that is big enough for the body, then remove the neck, and stow it in the case. Reinstall it on the other end. Not CF, but a used 114 or 110 plus a Pelican case could be had for under $500. |

What's to flame?
Fazool put out there what he wanted, others "showed him the way." Unless it is about $500 for a used 100 series Taylor and a Pelican case... I have used Pelican cases for photography equipment, and it would be tough to find one big enough for a Grand Auditorium body for less than $500. Sounds to me like the OF660 is a good solution. Sometimes, it just takes a little nudge to make that first carbon fiber purchase. |

As a fan/owner of a Taylor GS-8 and a recent purchaser of an OF660, I like the feel of the necks of both Taylors and the OF660. same nut width.
Here's a sound level comparison I did a while back that includes the journey and my taylor https://www.reverbnation.com/tonyobe...mpling-journey |

Sorry Captain, I meant the gas flame, as in he found what he was looking for....not the flame flame where you torch someone.
