Wonderful tribute, Eric. I'm guessing that Glen is smiling.

That was so sublime....beautifully crafted arrangement. Love the improvisational passages (to my ear there even was a little moment of Hendrix in there!). Thanks for posting.

Thanks Eric....sublimely beautiful. I have always loved Glen Campbell's music. He, too, was an amazing guitarist. I remember seeing a video of Glen Campbell jamming with Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and other country legends. When GC began his solo in Gentle On My Mind, the other guitars faded into the background, and he proceeded to play the single most amazing licks that I have ever heard. The other musicians looked on, mouths agape. What a treasure.

Growing up in the early 1970’s in small town Pennsylvania, and being a self-taught guitar player, I can so clearly remember seeing Glen Campbell on all those ubiquitous TV variety shows. In those days, before MTV and Youtube, not living in a city, or having a family member that played, seeing someone actually playing a guitar was pretty exciting stuff. I clearly remember seeing him bend a string on TV and thinking, “holy crap, you can bend them!” Like a lot of people my age, my first nice guitar was of course, an Ovation -like Glen Campbell played on the TV.

I grew up in a small town east of Pittsburgh. In the early 60s, we received three TV signals....WJAC, Johnstown, WFBG, Altoona and WTAE in Pittsburgh. WTAE offered a lot of local programming where I discovered Joe Negri, an accomplished local jazz guitarist, who at an early age dazzled me with his versatility and inspired me to play the guitar. I begged my father for a guitar and, God bless him, Dad bought me my first guitar when I was ten....a black and white Silvertone electric guitar with something that passed for an amp built into the case. What a wonderful gift. That was some fifty plus years ago. I've been playing ever since.

Eric... wonderful tribute, great playing. Thank you for sharing that. We lost someone really special in Glen Campbell. And Wichita Lineman happens to be my favorite Glen Campbell song.

A very moving rendition, Eric. I also loved Glen as a kid with a background similar to yours. Your admiration really comes though in this performance, bravo!
