I own two Rainsong jumbos - a 6- and a 12-string - and three Taylor acoustics...
I like to think of the "Rainsong tone" as the sound Bob T. has been hearing in his head for years - huge, crisp, clear, and defined, with solid low-end support and loads of headroom - but can't quite achieve due to the inherent inconsistencies of wood... There are a couple Taylors on my current short list - "mild" BTO's that don't deviate too far from 2018 production spec... If Rainsong still made the N1 neck I'd own a couple more - and if they ever came out with a 17"/18" archtop along the lines of the Martin Lewis, in the $4K range (about what the ML sold for), I'd be the first in line; BTW, a set of Martin Monels warms up the tone of any Rainsong rather nicely - makes it about as "woody" as a CF guitar can be... There's a place for everything - and it's all a matter of perspective...

I have a Rainsong dread and it is quite a nice sounding guitar. It's not exactly Woody in tone, but it's not far off. It's just a great guitar.
Congrats on the new guitar!20171223_183821.jpg

I've played a couple of Emeralds, one stupid expensive, one not so bad. And two Rainsongs. Very nice guitars.

They don't have the cool looking mojo that wooden counterparts have, but they have a mojo sound right out of the box that doesn't require decades to break in. So yeah.....

I have a rain song hybrid WS, also a really sweet Martin and a really sweet Gibson. They are all great guitars. That said, I probably get more positive comments on the Rain Song than any other. Including one from a blind guy who had no idea what I was playing, just thought it sounded nice.
