Default Looking for a pesky chord!

I've been messing around with Great White's 'House Of Broken Love'. I play a simplified version (like everything I play) fingerstyle by apreggiating chords.

The intro/verse is Am G Dm C and chorus is F G Am, C G Am - or something along those lines (I'm at work and going from memory!).

But the first chord in the bridge is killing me! I can't find it by ear. I found a couple tab versions which match my chords above and they say it's Em but Em does NOT sound right to me!

Anyone?

I hate it when the tabs are almost right but you KNOW they have one wrong !

Tell me a video URL and time stamp, and I can give it a listen. I gave the full song a play, and there is a chord that stands out, but it is not a minor chord. I don't want to tell you the wrong one, because I got the "bridge" wrong.

Yes, that is the place - right at 3:32. I'll try the Dm E F G progression when I get home. I think what had me thrown was the guitar does down to a low D at that point - probably tuned to drop D. But I tried going to a high D and it just didn't sound right but I don't want to tune down to drop D for the one song either.

I'll play around with it tonight - thanks!

Actually, I think that is an Em chord, not E major.

At 3:31/32 it goes to Dm7 - and the low D is in the bass, not the guitar. No reason for the guitar to be tuned down. (There are much lower bass notes elsewhere.)
After two bars on Dm7, it's one bar on Em7, then half a bar each on F and G. In fact on the last beat of that 4th bar (before the Am, on "set me free") the bass goes to G#, as a chromatic passing note from G to A.
If Em doesn't sound right to you, it may be the 7th that makes the difference.

Yep, you guys were right! Dm there. (Will try the Dm7.) Still going back and forth between E and Em after - neither sounds perfect so maybe Em7 will be the ticket. And yes, I do hit the G# passing note on the way back to the Am.

Now to see if the wife can sing it and do it justice!

Thanks again, guys!
