On the other hand... I sold one of the guitars yesterday for cash (Eastman E10D) from Craigslist. The buyer drove over 100 miles to see, play, then buy the instrument. The whole thing seemed fishy to me at first, but I politely pursued it. I'm glad I did. Turned out to be a good player and buyer.

It's a dilema... it's not that easy to sell a guitar in this completely saturated market... I hate to lose a sale without cautiously testing... my response to the person in question seems reasonable, cash only.
Listen to these guys, there is no sale to lose here. It's an obvious scam. What harm can come of it? Beats me, my theory is always to let someone else be the one to learn that.

I'd delete the email and move on.

Wow, if you think there is any chance at all that stephanie is a real buyer, I have a Merrill Brazilian OM-42 to sell you.

I agree. Do NOT send your phone number! Personally, I simply wouldn't answer it.

Follow Up: I got another e-mail from the "buyer" (scammer)... there was no doubt about this one... deleted, moved on, a bit smarter for this experience.

I appreciate the advice I've received here... more importantly, I hope this thread saves others from being taken by a scam. They are becoming more and more subtle and sophisticated, sneaky devils... stay vigilant.

Default Another scam? This time Pay Pal

One of the best things about the AGF is the way we enjoy helping each other. Glad you got the help you needed here. Now, you might want to consider taking out your phone number from your earlier post.

Thanks Cotton, I just did as you suggested, should have thought of it sooner.
