Warped Fast Turtle Pick
I have a John Pearse Fast Turtle (1.2 mm) pick that I really like, but I've noticed it warps when I play it for an extended period of time. My guess is it responds to sweat and body heat. I didn't mind it too much while it did that only slightly, but recently I took it out from its pouch and discovered the pick to have a considerable curve and it doesn't revert into its old shape.
These picks are made from casein, so I'm wondering if the recent monsoon season we had in Arizona (hot and humid followed by extreme dryness) has anything to do with it. Does anyone have an idea on how to flatten it out? |

i'd guess it's the body heat moreso than the humidity.
could you flip it over to straighten it out? |

Back in the day when I used to play using real tortoise picks I just got used to the fact that it became "sided". It actually felt better for that slight concave side under the thumb. (And horrible to play if the other side was used).

Try a Tortex pick. They last long!

Warped Fast Turtle Pick
I've made some casein picks and have had that issue as well. I'll put them in a cup of water and microwave it for a minute or two. Then take it and clamp it flat for a while till it cools and dries out.

I actually like them better once they've become "sided." They are great picks. Have you tried going up a gauge?

I thought Fast Turtles were meant to be slightly curved -- both of the ones I have came that way.
